Review: This book is not smart, it’s brilliant. Genius even. Had it been possible to devour it in a sitting, I would have done so, bleary-eyed, hungry, bladder bursting…it’s riveting. Truly.  (Alas, I have small children, and they are a little more persistent than a full bladder and can’t be remedied by wearing an adult diaper – just sayin’).

I’ve read blurbs that say if you like Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train than All the Missing Girls is a book for you, and I don’t disagree with that sentiment. I’ve read both of those books and they were quite good. And if you liked those books, you should love this one. It is SO much better. So, so much. I was enthralled. Who did it? Where is she? Or they? Please don’t let it be Tyler. Is it Daniel? Her Dad? Who? Why? How? Where? AHHHH!!!!

And then the proverbial shit hits the fan and…WHAT?!? No. NO! No no no no no no no!!! Breathe in. Breathe out. Something like that. And I can’t tell you more than that because spoilers. What I will say is that at the end of Gone Girl, I hurled the book across the room. Not figuratively. I actually hit the wall with the book. At the end of All the Missing Girls, I wondered when I would have time to read it again because love.

Now, I will give you the same disclaimer that I’m sure you’ve read in all the other reviews: the book is written in a reverse time scheme (mostly). And though I knew that upfront, I thought I would find it hard to follow, that it couldn’t possibly work. Oh, but I was wrong. Wrong, I say! It was so masterfully done that I simply can’t imagine reading this story any other way.

In a nutshell? Best thriller I’ve read this year.
