Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon – April 2017

Wow. Usually, I’m all “The Readathon is coming! The Readathon is coming!”, and this year it kind of snuck up on me. I mean, I booked my room 8 weeks ago, so it isn’t like I was blindsided or anything, but one minute it was 8 weeks away, and the next it was this weekend.

Last time I booked a room out of town for the weekend, making the Readathon a Mommy-break weekend. It worked out so beautifully that I did it again. And here I sit, at the same property, in the exact same room, as last time. And the weather? Despite it being April instead of October? The same. Misty and foggy with occasional rain. Good thing I brought a lot of horror/thriller/suspense stuff.

This time around, I managed to bring half as much stuff (I still overdid it, but whatever). The location and style of the inn is perfect, but they have no room service, no microwave…no coffeemaker (seriously!), and I’m staying in for the whole stay (because reading!!!), so I’ve got too many snacks, and too many books, but chances are I won’t be all “I’m in the mood for XYZ, but I don’t have any” because it’s pretty likely I do. 😉

But I digress…the Readathon will be here tomorrow, but my reading weekend has already begun. I’m so freakin’ excited. So. Freakin’. Excited!!!

Are you participating in Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon this year? It’s not too late to sign up and it’s loads of fun!

  1. Oh wow!! This sounds awesome! I’m going to do this next year for sure. I LOVE that you are making it a weekend for yourself. Oh I hope you have such a good time. I think I might do it with my daughter. She’s older and if we leave all phones etc. at home and just bring out books, snacks and comfy clothing….she’d love it.
    Enjoy!!!!

    • Dewey’s is actually twice a year. The next will be in late October. You should definitely participate! It’s a lot of fun.

I like the idea of you doing it with your older daughter. Some people do it as a group, and the picks always look like it’s so much fun. Of course, you have to have the right people if you want to actually get any reading done!

      • October sounds like a perfect time! Thank you for the info. It would be fun with a group of people as well, but like you said to get reading done it would have to be a certain group. I mentioned it to my daughter and she’s pretty excited. But I told her no cell phones no texting and she seems fine with it. Thanks again. Happy reading!

    • Thanks! I hope you had a great weekend with the grandkids. The next Dewey’s is in late October, but there are other readathons as well. It really is a great way to get some focused time to read.
