Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon: Mini Challenge – Power of Love

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon is my entry for the Mini Challenge: Power of Love.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways! I’d ask what’s not to love, but honestly, that would be a near impossible question to answer. The writing is tremendous. The characters are just…I love Claire and Jaime together. And I love that it is historical fiction and I feel like I’ve learned something or that the questions I have about the historical references lead to tangential learning and burgeoning interests I wouldn’t have anticipated.

It isn’t often, rare really, that I reread anything. I always say I want to or I will, but I pretty much never do, but Outlander…it is at the top of the list. Even though there are bits that are emotionally difficult to read, it is only so because Herself does such an amazing job of whisking us away into their world, immersing us in their lives, such that we feel a part of all that is going on. Or at least, that is how I felt when I read this book. It takes my breath away!

Thanks to Reading Romances for hosting this Mini Challenge!

    • I’ve only read the first two, but plan at some point to pick up from the beginning and read all the way through. I watched the first half of the first season and loved it, but we decided to cut our cable and so…no Starz. Hopefully I’ll be able to watch it streaming or buy it on DVD at some point. Thanks for visiting!

    • They are doing such a lovely job with the show, aren’t they? It’s so rare that a tv or film adaptation does a fair job, but they have really succeeded all around. Thanks for stopping by!
