It’s Been Awhile…

Ummm. Hi! *waves hand with a sheepish grin on her face* So, wow. This break has been a LOT longer than I thought. Like, way, WAY longer. And I’m afraid I don’t have any exciting drama to explain it. The super boring story goes something like this:

Girl hits reading slump. MAJOR reading slump. Girl knows this can be a sign of impending depressive episode so she tries to find another activity she can latch onto. Quilting turns out to be the answer. But like most things, girl gets obsessed. Tries to pick up a book here and there but nothing feels right. All books are terrible (gasp!). Back to quilting obsession. Finally, FINALLY, girl manages to get into a book or two and…has a long enough reading streak that she feels confident she can come back and have a good chance of staying back. But girl is still obsessed with quilting. πŸ˜‰

That’s it. That’s the whole story. My kids are also out of school for the summer which means a lot less reading for me, generally speaking. But I’ve stockpiled some reviews, I’m in a good reading routine, and I’m hoping to post something at least once a week.

My apologies for the super long break. It wasn’t planned or wanted, it just sort of happened and then time slipped away from me. And thanks to everyone who reached out to make sure I was still alive (I’m looking at you, Susan!).

Looking forward to catching up on everyone’s blogs and hope that if I’m still in your feed, I’ll stay there a little while longer. πŸ™‚

    • Hi, Carla! Me, too. I’m glad to be back to my book loving self and feeling more…me.

My mom has been quilting for a few years, and I started sewing clothes for my kids about this time last year, so it seemed like a good fit. I’d love to share! I’ll do so in a future post.

Looking forward to catching up on your blog!

  1. Yay!!! So happy to see you back! And you’re welcome!πŸ˜ŠπŸ’– Maybe do a book review each week and then post some pictures of what you are working on! I would love to see your projects just like Carla! Winter is coming and quilting blankets could get a money maker!πŸ˜ŠπŸ’–Just saying!! I’m always looking for a new blanket to read under!πŸ’–πŸ’–

    • I think that sounds like a great idea! Thank you. And my hubby would LOVE it if I could sell some. Quilting is not a cheap hobby. And I buy fabric like I boy books. πŸ˜‰ So, so glad to be back in the fold!

  2. That sounds like my writing slump following our move. I’ve been struggling to find my groove too. Lots of luck, quilting is a great diversion. I’m missing my sewing machine much more than I anticipated when I left it with my mom.

    • Slumps are so difficult. It feels like I can’t connect with a really vital part of myself. Very frustrating. I hope you get your writing groove back sooner rather than later. Maybe invest in another sewing machine? Or see if you can find a suitable one on Craigslist or FB Marketplace. I don’t think I could do without mine now. πŸ™
