Old Reviews

Not so long ago (I think), I mentioned that I might start posting some older reviews I had done on a book blog I’d attempted a few years back (2010!). Or at least, I think I mentioned that. And if I didn’t, I am now. 🙂

Anyway, since I can’t seem to wrap my brain around the concept of finding time to a) read all that I want, b) write reviews for all that I have recently read, c) do things that I enjoy unrelated to reading, d) do my coursework for my Lit degree, e) have human relationships, and f) manage the rest of life’s responsibilities…I’m going to post the aforementioned old book reviews.

It’s actually a rather interesting exercise to go back and read those old reviews. Somehow I suspect it’s a great deal like reading old journals: you recognize the voice and the person as your formal self, but you are acutely aware of the fact that you, and your life, have changed a great deal since then. The woman who wrote these older blog reviews was younger, with only one kid who happened to be a teenager. The brain I now possess, as the mother of four, including 4 year old triplets…well, reading those old reviews made me feel like somehow a part of my brain had been seared away in the past five years, and I would really like to either a) find a way to repair the damage or b) learn to love the brain I’ve got today and make the most of it. Either way, if you wonder if the concept of “Mom brain” is a myth or not, I’m here to tell you it is not.

Hope you enjoy the reviews!

P.S. My old format is not quite so structured, so I’ll do my best to adjust it for the sake of consistency, but there is only so much this old Mom brain can do. 😉
