This time of year, it is impossible not to feel motivated to do things differently, improve, try something new, get refocused, etc. And since early December, my mind has been drifting heavily towards my reading and blog goals for 2018. All of these ideas have been bouncing around, begging for attention, pestering and prodding until I had to start writing it all out to see what I could reasonably focus on. Mostly, I think I have it under control, and I am SO excited, but holy criminy, what a terrible time of year to get super motivated!
Here I am, shaking with anticipation and all these well laid out plans waiting to be implemented, and I’m stumbling from the get go because Mother Nature decided she’d bluster about and add extra days to my kids already long winter break. Don’t get me wrong. I love my kids. But you try writing anything coherent with three 7 year olds running around with cabin fever (because it feels like -20 outside). Or reading. Just sayin’.
So, I’m behind on a few basic things I wanted to do this year: I still need to do my January TBR post, my 2018 Reading Goals post, I have one outstanding review to write, three books I’m behind on finishing, and I have yet to decide which weekly meme I’m going to participate in this year.
But.
After thinking about it for months and months, researching providers and various tools, and getting help and support from other bloggers (thank you NovelKnight!), I finally pulled the trigger and signed up for a self-hosting provider! It’s my birthday present to myself*, and I am SO excited. So. SO. SO!!! Excited! At this point, I’ve done nothing other than pay the bill, but I hope to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible. As soon as anything changes that you need to know about, I’ll share. But in the meantime, I’m doing a happy dance. I loved the flexibility and control of self-hosting on my earlier blog, and I kinda feel like a kid who just got an all-access pass to Disneyland. Or a key to the candy store (have I told you how much I love Jelly Bellys?).
Yay!!! This is going to be so much fun. 😉
*My birthday isn’t until Wednesday, but now that I’m in my 40’s, I’ve become a fan of the birthday month concept. 😉

Thank you! At first, it will mostly (hopefully), just mean an “address” change. Might mean I’m down for a few days and all comments get locked while I transition. But I’ll post before anything changes (though honestly, that could be tonight!).
As for the weather, it is supposed to get back up into the 30’s by Tuesday, and nothing lower than 20’s predicted for the next few weeks. I’ll take it! How about you? How are your kids adjusting to the snowy winter?
