Hi there!

Earlier in the month, I had a plan to post three times a week, including the days surrounding Christmas. Which apparently, was not a very good plan. 😉 Live and learn for next year, yes?

But really, it was a nice break, celebrating the holiday with my husband and kiddos, catching up on Grey’s Anatomy, and now anxiously chasing my children around with a bowl in case they don’t get to the bathroom in time – because it is Puke City around here right now. So, ok, that part isn’t so wonderful, but the silver lining is that they are all sick at the same time so it will be maybe two miserable days instead of the normal pass-along situation where they are sick for two days at a time separately, making for a really long week. And they are on break, so they aren’t taking sick days. And most importantly, whatever it is they have, they are completely fine between bouts of barfing. No fever, no lethargy. See? Silver Lining.

Christmas was wonderful. The kids are seven now and it’s such a fun age, watching how excited they get. They still believe in Santa, and get excited about every little thing, hanging the ornaments, singing carols, and getting the tree (the tree guy looks like a young, thinner Yukon Cornelius from Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer). It’s so much fun!

Yukon Cornelius!

As for reading, I haven’t cracked a book in days. And that has put me behind on my 2017 Goodreads Challenge and my reading plan for the month. There is still a chance I’ll finish the last three books for my Goodreads Challenge. I’m nearly done with one, and there are 5 whole days left. It’s definitely possible. My reading plan for the month (December TBR), however, is probably impossible to catch up with at this point. It was my first month doing it, and I expected a learning curve. Here’s hoping that helps my planning for January, and really, for the whole year.

At the moment, I’m mulling over my goals for 2018. Ideas have been swimming in my head for the past month or so, but I’d love a little inspiration. What are your 2018 reading goals? Challenges? Readathons? More of a certain genre? Trying something new? More works by POC? More non-fiction? Longer books? There are just so many possibilities when it comes to reading, so many different ways to stretch. Or maybe you don’t want a stretch goal this year? Maybe this is the year of the comfort read for you! Whatever it is, I want to know.

  1. Hope everyone feels better soon! Glad to hear about a good holiday and glad to see that you can find the silver lining!

For my reading goals I plan to read 91 books in 2018, I plan to read more horror/thrillers, more nonfiction, more fantasy, and more graphic novels. I’m also participating in the 2018 series challenge which I posted about recently. I’m hoping for a good reading year 🙂

  2. I am doing the BeattheBacklist challenge next year, just so I can try and get rid of more of my physical books that I have piled up everywhere. Sorry to hear everyone is sick/been sick hopefully they feel better soon
